Panama Canal Expansion

When Panama embarked on the monumental task of expanding the canal with a new set of locks, Al Sprague was personally invited to serve as the official artist of the historic project. Though he declined the full commission, he pledged to capture this new chapter of history in his own distinct voice—crafting two magnificent original paintings for the official Panama Canal Art Collection.

In "Panama Canal Expansion", Sprague renders the raw intensity, massive scale, and breathtaking grandeur of modern engineering in motion. Massive machinery, deep earthworks, and dramatic tropical light converge in a powerful tribute to human ambition. Rich in historic gravity and artistic mastery, this monumental piece serves as an extraordinary centerpiece charged with strength, progress, and lasting legacy.
