Selling Guandu

A tender glimpse into daily life, "Selling Guandu" captures an authentic, heartwarming slice of Panamanian heritage. Al Sprague turns his warm, observational eye toward a young roadside vendor selling guandú (pigeon peas)—the beloved staple at the heart of traditional Panamanian holiday feasts. Drenched in soft tropical sunlight, this evocative painting highlights Sprague’s deep appreciation for the humble rhythms, quiet dignity, and enduring cultural warmth of the country's interior.
